Alexandria & the Mediterranean Coast

Three nights in the city Alexander founded in 331 BC. A private historian-guide leads you through the Graeco-Roman Museum, the catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, Pompey's Pillar, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and the Citadel of Qaitbay — the site of the ancient Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders. Evenings: long seafood dinners on the corniche, the great Mediterranean boulevard.

   Arrival in Alexandria

   Private transfer from Cairo or Alexandria Airport. Check into your boutique hotel on the corniche. Orientation walk along the waterfront.

   Graeco-Roman Alexandria

   Morning: Graeco-Roman Museum, Pompey's Pillar, and the Serapeum. Afternoon: the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa — the largest known funerary complex in Egypt.

   Bibliotheca & Citadel of Qaitbay

   Morning at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (modern library built on the site of the ancient one). Afternoon at the Citadel of Qaitbay, built over the foundation stones of the Pharos Lighthouse.

   Departure

   Morning stroll along the corniche, final breakfast at a local café, private transfer to the airport or back to Cairo.
